I decided to be brave and go shopping with both kids last week. I kept thinking I would go after the kids got to bed but it just never happened. Well, I decided to go to the closest store just in case things got out of hand. The kids did great until we went to check out and then Joseph started screaming. Then I went to pay for everything and realized they only take debit cards and all I had was my credit card. So they saved my groceries and I packed the kids up to go get my debit card. I went back to pay with that and they told me it had expired. I looked at it and it had expired the week before. By then it was 5 so I called Kimball up to come pay for the groceries and I would wait around to take them home since he had an appointment to get to. Even through all that, the kids were pretty good.

I was feeling confident so I decide to take them shopping again the next time I had to go out. Joseph slept the entire time which was great, but Alli had way to much energy. She was climbing out of the cart over and over and she even ran off a couple of times. Finally I remembered someone saying that you could try hiding from the child without loosing them from your sight. So I decided to try that. Alli ran off and was hiding on a shelf, well this mom saw her and picked her up all concerned and just then a worker walked by so she was saying she didn't know where her mom was. I said she was mine and that I had my eyes on her. Well the mom made comments about how that was just not right to let her go off like that. I replied thanks and then put Alli back in the cart and told her not to get out again.
I couldn't see her because of Joseph's car seat so when I went to put something else in she had opened up the sour cream and was eating it with her fingers. I was so mad. I didn't finish my shopping and just payed for what I had and left. I called Kimball and said I am never taking her shopping again.

I have no advice on the subject. Kids make shopping rough.

I started shopping at 11pm on thurs after Volleyball. It's nice without kids, but crazy that it's come to this.

Shopping with kids is the worst. But I have discovered that I have to put Sophie in the little seat at the front of the cart by me. Then I balance Livi's car seat across the cart and shove as much stuff under her in the basket as I can. Needless to say, we make a lot of small trips instead of fewer larger ones.

Ya, I try to avoid it all costs. I have to go late at night too. It DOES get easier though. I use bribery a lot too.
I can't believe that woman gave you a stink about it! Good grief! That would mortify me and make me want cry and punch her in the face all at the same time.
