Nauvoo

We have returned from our 10 day trip to Nauvoo with Kimball's family. Being so nervous for the last few months it was nice to finally get through it without any problems and Alli did amazingly well.
I would love to show pictures of everthing as I talk about them, but we thought we forgot the camera for the first day and then we found it the next but realized it was out of batteries so we had to wait until we could get to the hotel. So I will tell all that we did and then add a few pictures of what we have until I can get some from Kimball's family.
Day 1
Denver (530 miles driving through the night)- Elitch Garden's, Denver Outlaws Lacrosse Game, Fireworks after game. (Fireworks were pretty exciting because the roof caught on fire and then a firework blew up on the grounds of the stadium.)
Day 2
Kansas City (605 miles)- Dinner at a BBQ place (they're known for their BBQ), Gelato store (Mmmmm!)
Day 3
Church, Liberty Jail, Far West, Adam-ondi-ahman (beautiful but extremely hot).

The Ward's at Adam-ondi-ahman Cute Alli and I
Day 4
St. Louise (235 miles)-Arch, we road up in this little pod to the top and looked down over the Mississippi river and the rest of town. It was really scary for me to get in this tiny pod that was hot and claustrophobic. And looking out the windows on top was scary too. (Alli and Kimball loved it). For dinner we went to the Hard Rock Cafe, and I got a cute shirt.
Day 5
Nauvoo (184 miles)- Settled in to this amazing house we would be staying at and then went to a play that the senior missionaries did.
Day 6
Walked through Old Nauvoo- Gunsmith shop, brick yard(free nauvoo brick), bakery(free cookie), blacksmith (Alli got a tiny horse shoe and we all got prairie diamonds), Smith family graves, etc. Alli's Birthday activities! (a later blog about this) and "Sunset on the Mississippi" (a really fun variety show.

Alli getting her horse shoe at the blacksmiths shop.
Day 7
Carthage-there is such an amazing spirit there of so many things but the one that I felt the most was Love. The love I have for Joseph Smith grew so much.

Alli, Kimball and I at Carthage Jail.
Nauvoo- Trail of Hope, "High Hopes and Riverboats" a musical of the history of Nauvoo (this was a hard one for me to enjoy because Alli was tired and hungry so I was more of the entertainer for her.)

Ward's on a oxen wagon ride. Dearma helping carry Alli

What you see along the Trail of Hope.
How hard it would be to leave behind your
temple that you have worked so hard on.

Day 8
Baptisms for the Dead at the temple, Marinda and I took the kids while the rest of the family did a session (we took a wagon ride, went to a children's play, and did the pioneer activities in the park), Kimball and I went to a cafe for lunch and then did a session ourselves (that temple is so beautiful! It was so nice to be with my husband there and to feel the peace and calmness), made dinner, went to the Pageant. (It was amazing. The story and how it was told was amazing. Seeing the temple light up at the very end reminded me of why Joseph Smith did all that he did...to get our eternal families back to our Heavenly Father.)

Cousin Caleb and Alli on sheep
Day 9
Pack up and head home. Stopped in Winter Quarters (beautiful temple and cemetery).
Day 10
Traveled all day and finally made it home! It is always nice to arrive home after a long trip. The next week of unpacking, washing, and cleaning is no fun though. Hopefully Alli will get back on schedule again soon too.

Thanks for that simple little recap of your trip Heids. That sounds like lots of fun. I'm glad Alli made it through the trip. Sounds like you had some awesome experiences too. We'll have to get together some time and you can tell me more about them!

As always, every picture of Alli is adorable. I can't believe she is 1 already. She is growing way too fast!
